Rediscover Inspiration: A Journey Through the Better Blog Retreat and My Favorite Greek Yogurt Parfait
Happy Friday, everyone! As we embrace the weekend, I’m thrilled to share a special #FlashbackFriday post, bringing together two incredible experiences from the past month that have left a lasting impression on me: the transformative Better Blog Retreat and the delightful discovery (and subsequent obsession) of my new favorite easy Greek yogurt parfait. Both, in their own way, have added immense flavor and richness to my life.
Join me as I delve into the highlights of a truly unforgettable retreat and introduce you to a simple, yet utterly delicious, breakfast that has become a staple in my routine.
Better Blog Retreat: Cultivating Creativity and Connection
The Retreat Experience: More Than Just a Conference
What exactly defines a “Better Blog” Retreat, you might wonder? This past October, alongside fifteen other talented food bloggers, I embarked on a weekend journey to Park City, Utah, to find out. And I can confidently say, the experience surpassed every expectation we could have possibly held. It wasn’t merely a conference; it was an immersive opportunity to connect, learn, and grow in an environment specifically curated for food blogging professionals. The meticulous planning and thoughtful details made it profoundly special, but let me offer you a glimpse into some of the most memorable aspects.

The Epic Retreat House: Pinon Pines in Park City
Our accommodation, affectionately known as our “little casa,” was nothing short of spectacular. We had heard whispers that the vacation home for the retreat would be exceptional, but our arrival in Park City, coupled with glimpses on Instagram of fellow attendees marveling at its unique features, solidified that we were in for an extraordinary treat. This house, named Pinon Pines, provided by Anthology Destinations, wasn’t just stunning; it was an experience in itself. From its poetic name to its private elevator and even its own dedicated tunnel entrance, every detail screamed luxury and exclusivity.
Pinon Pines proved to be an architectural marvel, both inside and out. Nestled just minutes from downtown Park City, it offered the serene tranquility of a private mountain escape, accessible primarily via its unique tunnel or the ski slopes. The views from every window were absolutely breathtaking, especially when we were graced with an unexpected, picturesque snowfall on the first day, transforming the landscape into a winter wonderland. Despite the allure of the snowy mountains, we found ourselves perfectly content spending the majority of the weekend indoors. With an expansive 8,500 square feet of living space, including six luxurious bedrooms with enviable en-suite baths, a vaulted living room offering panoramic vistas, a welcoming dining area, a rejuvenating sauna, a relaxing hot tub, a state-of-the-art home theater, multiple bars, and an abundance of cozy fireplaces, there was no shortage of areas to explore and enjoy. And of course, the absolute dream kitchen served as the heart of our culinary adventures.
What truly impressed me, beyond its sheer size and opulent features, was how Pinon Pines was meticulously designed to feel genuinely like a home. Each room perfectly blended warmth, comfort, and an inviting atmosphere, encouraging everyone to settle in, enjoy each other’s company, and truly relax. It was a space that fostered connection and creativity, making it an ideal setting for our retreat.

The Culinary Journey: A 24/7 Food Fest
For anyone following along on Instagram during the retreat, it was evident that the vast majority of our shared photos were, unsurprisingly, dedicated to the food. And even then, I believe our cameras barely captured the full essence of what was truly a 24/7 gourmet culinary festival. The experience was simply unreal.
Beyond an amazing first night out at a local whiskey distillery, the most remarkable aspect was that nearly all our meals were prepared from scratch in the spectacular kitchen of our retreat house! Kelley, our culinary maestro, orchestrated an ingenious menu featuring original recipes contributed by each of the attending bloggers. This collaborative approach was incredibly fun and rewarding. After years of admiring each other’s food photography and recipes online, it was a unique joy to finally taste so many of our peers’ creations, meal after delicious meal. Each of these cherished recipes was thoughtfully compiled into beautiful retreat cookbooks/notebooks, designed by Heidi, for each of us to take home as a memorable keepsake. It was truly an amazing demonstration of collective talent.
Attempting to describe every single delectable dish we enjoyed would be a monumental task. However, if your curiosity is piqued, I highly recommend exploring the #bbretreat hashtag on Instagram. I guarantee you’ll find yourself instantly craving something delicious. Just thinking about Heidi’s burrata makes my mouth water!

Invaluable Lessons Learned: Beyond the Formal Sessions
While numerous conferences exist for food bloggers today, offering a wealth of information, I’ve consistently found that the most pivotal lessons about blogging, small business ownership, and crucially, managing the inherent stress of entrepreneurship, emerge from more informal, intimate conversations with fellow bloggers. These are the late-night pajama sessions, the casual chats over coffee, and the countless texts and emails exchanged throughout the day where genuine connections are forged and truly transformative insights are shared.
Therefore, having an entire weekend dedicated simply to sitting, listening, and *talking* was an absolute gift. It was inspiring to witness each individual’s unique strengths, experiences, and invaluable lessons they brought to the table. Even more impressive was the generosity, openness, patience, and willingness of everyone to share these insights. When bloggers uplift and support one another, it strengthens our entire industry, and that is something I deeply appreciate and admire.
Undoubtedly, the most significant takeaways from the weekend revolved around the critical topic of work/life balance. Bloggers, by nature, tend to be an exceptionally hard-working group, for better or for worse. When you operate a business that demands attention 24/7 and you’re the primary force juggling myriad responsibilities, it’s easy to see why so many of us can become workaholics. I’ve navigated this path on and off for years, but frankly, I’ve grown weary of consistently working insane hours. I genuinely adore blogging as my profession, but I’ve never intended for it to consume my entire life. Since returning home, I’ve been actively implementing changes in my priorities, particularly concerning how I allocate my time. I’m delighted to report that these adjustments are (slowly but surely) beginning to make a genuine and much-needed difference. It’s all about taking those important baby steps towards a healthier, more balanced life.
Rest & Rejuvenation: Prioritizing Well-Being
Speaking of how we spend our time, I must extend a massive shout-out to our stellar retreat planners, Maria and Heidi, for thoughtfully scheduling much-needed R&R into our weekend! My excitement was already high at the prospect of a few days relaxing in the stunning Park City mountains. But in addition to soaking in the beauty of our gorgeous house and enjoying the company of wonderful friends, we were treated to a delightful “spa morning” right in the midst of it all!
The incredible team from Zante Spa surprised us by arriving to treat everyone to rejuvenating manicures, relaxing foot massages, and soothing back massages. And oh my goodness, they were absolutely heavenly. The fancy foot massages even brought a whole new meaning to the phrase “having your feet held to the flame” – in the best possible way! Beyond the spa treatments, the entire environment was designed for ultimate relaxation: three days of delicious homemade meals prepared for us, the gentle sight of snow falling on cedars outside our windows, a toasty hot tub, plush robes and slippers, and fireplaces warming every corner of the house. There was even an elevator, eliminating the need to navigate stairs if we preferred!
This truly stands out as one of the very first blogging trips I’ve ever taken where I returned home feeling genuinely recuperated and refreshed, rather than needing another vacation to recover from the trip itself. It underscored the importance of intentional self-care, even (or especially) in a professional setting.

Our Generous Sponsors: Fueling the Experience
Another delightful surprise upon our arrival was discovering the generous support of some of our favorite sponsors. Their contributions elevated the entire weekend, from the incredible gift baskets that thoughtfully awaited us on our beds to the fantastic food and state-of-the-art kitchen gear that equipped our culinary endeavors. What truly touched us was that some sponsors even joined us in person, taking the time to connect, chat, cook, and spend a day sharing their passion and expertise. Their unwavering generosity truly blew us away.
Our sincerest and hugest thanks go out to Anthology Destinations, Chobani, Deer Valley, DeLallo, Harry and David, High West Distillery, KitchenAid, OXO, Sweet Tooth Fairy Bakery, Whole Foods, Wisconsin Cheese, and all our other amazing sponsors. Your support made this weekend exceptionally special and truly memorable for everyone involved. You are all incredible!

The Cherished Friends: The Heart of the Retreat
Without a doubt, the absolute best aspect of the entire weekend was the precious opportunity to simply spend quality time with an incredible group of women. Starting from pink chevron and moving clockwise, these amazing individuals included Maria, Rachel, Heidi, Sandy, Kristen, Amanda, Jessica, Jenny, Dara, Lori, Gina, Kelley, and Lindsay.
I’ve often reflected that one of the most wonderful surprises of entering the world of blogging has been the chance to connect with so many incredible, talented, hard-working, gracious, and stellar bloggers from across the country. More profoundly, it’s been the privilege of calling these remarkable individuals my friends. The weekend was filled with hanging out, collaborative cooking, hearty laughter, shared learning, meaningful celebrations, heartfelt conversations, serene snow-gazing, delightful wine-drinking, indulgent nail-buffing, playful food paparazzi moments, invigorating Jillian Michaels workouts, fun pink-lipstick applications, delicious brie-stuffing, creative parfait-making, deep late-night talks, and simply enjoying life with this exceptional group. It was a testament to the power of community and friendship in a demanding industry.
Finally, I want to extend my deepest gratitude and mega props to the two visionary friends who were the thoughtful, hard-working, and absolutely knock-your-socks-off creators of this entire unforgettable event: Heidi and Maria. These two individuals literally poured their hearts, dedicated countless hours of their time, and invested so much energy into crafting a truly memorable, relaxing, and meaningful weekend for all of us. Girls, it was an immense gift, and I cannot thank you enough for your incredible efforts.

Easy Greek Yogurt Parfait: My New Go-To Healthy Breakfast
Alright, with all the incredible stories from the retreat shared, let’s pivot back to the food – specifically, one of my most delightful culinary discoveries of the weekend: this truly beautiful Greek yogurt parfait. It immediately became my new breakfast favorite, and I’m so excited to share the recipe with you today.
My fondness for Greek yogurt parfaits goes back years; I’ve been hooked on their creamy goodness and versatility. However, it wasn’t until the wonderful team from Chobani joined us at the retreat and surprised everyone with a gorgeous breakfast yogurt parfait bar (a fabulous entertaining idea, by the way!) that my eyes were truly opened to the vast array of sweet and savory ingredients I could incorporate into my daily yogurt routine. My initial experimentation led me to a surprisingly fantastic smoked salmon and capers parfait. Yet, it was my subsequent combination of fresh fruit, crunchy pistachios, aromatic toasted coconut, nutrient-dense chia seeds, and a drizzle of golden honey that truly captured my heart and became my ultimate favorite.
Naturally, this particular parfait combination has been a constant in my kitchen ever since. It’s ridiculously simple to assemble, taking mere minutes, yet it consistently brings a smile to my face each morning. If you’re looking to invigorate your Greek yogurt routine with new flavors, textures, and a healthy boost, I highly recommend giving this delightful parfait a try. It’s a simple pleasure that delivers big on taste and nourishment.
Wishing you all a wonderful and flavorful weekend!

Easy Greek Yogurt Parfait: Your New Favorite Healthy Breakfast
Discover a vibrant and incredibly easy way to elevate your morning routine with this fresh Greek yogurt parfait. It’s not just a meal; it’s a delightful experience that combines creamy texture with bursts of natural sweetness and satisfying crunch. Perfect for a quick breakfast, a healthy snack, or even a light dessert.
Recipe Details
- Prep Time: 1 minute
- Total Time: 1 minute
- Yield: 1 serving
Ingredients
- Greek yogurt (I recommend a low-fat plain variety like Chobani for a healthy, versatile base. You can also use flavored yogurt if preferred.)
- Fresh chopped fruit (Customize with your favorites! Berries, sliced banana, kiwi, or mango add natural sweetness and a boost of vitamins and antioxidants.)
- Toasted coconut flakes (These add a wonderful nutty aroma and a delightful crunchy texture. Lightly toast them in a dry pan for a few minutes until golden.)
- Pistachios (For a dose of healthy fats, protein, and a satisfying crunch. Almonds, walnuts, or pecans also work beautifully.)
- Chia seeds (A true superfood, rich in fiber, omega-3 fatty acids, and protein, adding a subtle texture.)
- Honey (A drizzle of natural honey sweetens the parfait to your liking. Maple syrup or agave nectar are also excellent alternatives.)
Instructions
- Begin by placing a generous serving of Greek yogurt into your preferred breakfast bowl or glass. The creaminess of the yogurt forms the perfect foundation for your parfait.
- Next, artfully arrange your selection of fresh, chopped fruit over the yogurt. Don’t be shy with vibrant colors and diverse flavors!
- Sprinkle a handful of toasted coconut flakes evenly over the fruit and yogurt layer. Follow this with a scattering of pistachios or your chosen nuts, adding a delightful crunch and richness.
- For an extra nutritional boost, lightly scatter some chia seeds over the top. They’ll absorb some moisture and add subtle texture.
- Finish your masterpiece with a gentle drizzle of honey, adjusting the amount to achieve your desired level of sweetness.
- Serve your Easy Greek Yogurt Parfait immediately and savor every delicious, healthy spoonful!
Pro-Tips & Variations
- Make Ahead: For busy mornings, you can pre-chop your fruit and portion your nuts and seeds into small containers. Assemble the parfait fresh each morning to prevent the fruit from getting soggy.
- Flavor Boost: Add a pinch of cinnamon or a dash of vanilla extract to your yogurt before layering for an extra flavor dimension.
- Protein Power: Boost protein by adding a scoop of your favorite protein powder to the yogurt (mix well before layering).
- Savory Twist: Feeling adventurous? Try a savory parfait with plain Greek yogurt, sliced avocado, cherry tomatoes, a sprinkle of everything bagel seasoning, and a drizzle of olive oil.
