The invitation to travel to Kohler, Wisconsin – yes, the very town that shares its name with the brand – for an immersive weekend was an absolute dream come true. Joined by a wonderful group of fellow food bloggers, I embarked on a delicious, creatively stimulating, truly inspiring, and incredibly relaxing adventure. This was a weekend filled with culinary delights, luxurious pampering, and fascinating discoveries. Let me share the unforgettable highlights of this extraordinary Kohler experience!

This marked my inaugural visit to Wisconsin, and I was absolutely delighted that our trip coincided with the breathtaking beauty of autumn. As we journeyed through the landscape, it was ablaze with gorgeous, vibrant fall colors – a painter’s palette of fiery reds, brilliant oranges, and golden yellows. Upon our arrival in the picturesque and charming village of Kohler, the warm ambiance and pristine surroundings immediately signaled that we were in for an exceptional experience. The quaint streets, beautifully maintained architecture, and welcoming atmosphere made it clear why this destination is so highly regarded.
Our luxurious sanctuary for the duration of our stay in Kohler was none other than the illustrious American Club Resort. …to the truly epic bathrooms, which are – naturally – impeccably outfitted with the finest Kohler products, transforming a daily routine into a spa-like indulgence. Think deep soaking tubs, invigorating rain showers, and elegant fixtures that combine form and function seamlessly…
…and extending to every thoughtful little touch, such as the delightful turndown service complete with soothing background music, complimentary artisanal Kohler chocolates, and the consistently outstanding staff who anticipate every need. It was abundantly clear why this resort is a cherished favorite among discerning travelers seeking luxury, history, and impeccable service. We were all utterly captivated by its charm and sophistication.
Our inaugural exploration in Kohler led us to the impressive Kohler Design Center and its accompanying museum. This expansive space is nothing short of a designer’s paradise, a true feast for the eyes for anyone passionate about aesthetics and innovation. Everywhere you look, there are stunning Kohler products beautifully displayed in tastefully curated showrooms, each adhering to unique and captivating themes and designs. The sheer breadth of their offerings was astonishing. From their breathtaking kitchen and bath products – including bathtubs so luxurious they invite dreams of endless relaxation – to exquisite furniture and tiles (I was genuinely surprised to learn that Kohler owns Ann Sacks!), and even their cutting-edge engines and generators (another unexpected revelation!), Kohler’s unwavering commitment to superior design, impeccable craftsmanship, and uncompromising quality was evident at every turn. It truly underscored the brand’s holistic approach to enhancing modern living.
This magnificent center proved to be an incredibly inspiring place to visit, especially for those seeking fresh decor ideas, innovative design solutions, or simply wishing to appreciate the artistry behind everyday objects. It’s a testament to Kohler’s enduring legacy of innovation and style.
Of course, no visit to such a glamorous setting with a group of friends would be complete without a playful moment. We absolutely had to capture a “Kardashian” style family photo within one of our favorite, most opulent bathroom showrooms. The extravagant settings practically begged for a photo op!
Standing before a truly magnificent infinity bathtub, so inviting and serene, I was almost ready to call it a day then and there. As Heidi would amusingly put it, I was certainly tempted to “take a tub” in that gorgeous, seemingly endless cascade of water. It was the epitome of relaxation and luxury, beckoning me to unwind.
But alas, the irresistible call of chocolate was far too strong to ignore! It beckoned us away from the allure of the tubs and towards another delightful surprise. I believe one of the most delightful and unexpected discoveries of our entire trip was learning about Kohler’s own exquisite chocolate line. We made our first of several eagerly anticipated visits to the Craverie Chocolatier Cafe. Here, we had the distinct privilege of meeting their masterful head chocolatier, Chef Annette Righi DeFendi, whose passion and expertise were truly inspiring. Naturally, we couldn’t resist sampling their award-winning chocolates. If you ever find yourself in Kohler, you absolutely must try their signature terrapin chocolates – a sublime blend of flavors and textures that became an instant favorite. Throughout the weekend, we found ourselves repeatedly drawn back to the Craverie, unable to resist indulging in more and more of these delectable creations.
Following our sweet indulgence, we had the distinct pleasure of enjoying our first dinner at the American Club’s renowned Immigrant Restaurant. This unique dining establishment is thoughtfully arranged into a series of six distinct rooms, each exquisitely decorated to reflect the European heritage of early Wisconsin settlers: French, Dutch, German, Normandy, Danish, and English. The ambiance alone transported us, offering a charming and historically rich backdrop for our meal.
This dinner served as an epicurean introduction to the Kohler Food & Wine Experience, setting an incredibly high bar for the culinary journey ahead. We were treated to five outstanding courses, masterfully prepared by the talented Chef Matthew Bauer, each dish a work of art and a symphony of flavors. A carefully curated selection of exceptional wines accompanied each course, enhancing the intricate notes and textures. If your travels ever bring you to Kohler, a visit to The Immigrant Restaurant is an absolute imperative for an unforgettable fine dining experience.
The following day presented us with a truly challenging, albeit delightful, assignment: a blissful morning at the world-class Kohler Waters Spa. What a hardship! 😉 Without exaggeration, this particular morning ranks among the very best I experienced all year. From the moment we entered, we were enveloped in an atmosphere of serene luxury. We spent leisurely hours exploring the many beautiful pools and therapeutic baths, indulging in various hydrotherapy experiences designed to soothe both body and mind. This was followed by a truly heavenly facial, leaving my skin feeling utterly refreshed and radiant. A light, delectable lunch further enhanced our relaxation, served in a tranquil setting. Our time at the Kohler Waters Spa was the ultimate embodiment of rest, rejuvenation, and pure pampering – a truly precious gift for body and soul.
It’s worth noting that while we enjoyed our pampering “girly morning” at the spa, Sommer’s husband, Dan, was experiencing his own brand of exhilaration on the renowned Whistling Straits Golf Course. Although I’m not much of a golfer myself, Dan enthusiastically confirmed that this world-famous course, known for its dramatic lakeside holes and challenging links-style design, is indeed nothing short of stellar. It’s a bucket-list destination for golf enthusiasts globally.
Refreshed and invigorated, we then made our way to the bustling big tents where the Kohler Food & Wine Experience was in full, vibrant swing. The air was alive with the aroma of gourmet food and the cheerful clinking of glasses. We eagerly attended our first few sessions, each offering a unique dive into the world of culinary arts and fine wines.
These engaging sessions were, of course, punctuated by abundant and very generous samples of deliciously crafted food, each bite a testament to culinary excellence…
…and an impressive selection of wines. Be prepared: attendees at the Kohler Food & Wine Experience enthusiastically begin their wine tasting adventures as early as 11 AM, truly embracing the spirit of the festival! It’s a delightful way to explore new varietals and expand one’s palate.
A highlight was undoubtedly the amazing cooking demonstrations by culinary legends, including the esteemed Jacques Pépin and his talented daughter, Claudine. Their presence was absolutely captivating in person! They were not only incredibly inspiring, demonstrating complex techniques with effortless grace, but also utterly charming and delightfully hilarious. Their presentation was a masterclass in both cooking and entertainment, and the food they prepared was beyond delicious – an exquisite fusion of tradition and innovation.
That evening, we eagerly donned our finest attire to attend the grand opening event of the festival: the “Taste of the Vine.” This exclusive gala is a cornerstone of the Kohler Food & Wine Experience, celebrated for its unique setting and sophisticated atmosphere.
The entire Kohler Design Center, which we had toured earlier, was magnificently transformed into an epic gala venue. Every showroom, typically dedicated to showcasing elegant fixtures, became a station serving gourmet appetizers, exquisite wines, and craft beers. It was an incredibly unique experience – my first time enjoying delicate sushi and sipping fine Cabernet in a swanky, designer bathroom display! This inventive use of space truly highlighted Kohler’s flair for memorable experiences.
I am quite certain that almost every guest at the “Taste of the Vine” felt compelled to capture a photograph of the famous “Wall of China.” This iconic installation, a towering display of toilets stacked as high as the eye can see, is a playful yet striking homage to Kohler’s heritage. Pictures, honestly, do not even begin to do it justice – its scale and unique concept must be seen in person to be fully appreciated.
The next day brought with it a palpable sense of excitement, as we eagerly counted down the hours until the cooking demonstration by one of our absolute favorite chefs – the incomparable Cat Cora. Her dynamic presence and innovative approach to cuisine had us all looking forward to her insights and culinary magic.
The anticipation only grew when we learned we would have the extraordinary chance to sit down for an exclusive interview with her after her demonstration! We were all a little starstruck, to say the least, to be in the presence of a woman who has achieved so much in the competitive culinary world. From her iconic status as an Iron Chef to hosting “Around The World In 80 Plates,” opening award-winning restaurants globally, and numerous other ventures, her accomplishments are truly remarkable. And, impressively, she manages all of this while being a dedicated mother of four sons! Yet, Chef Cora was an absolute delight to be around – refreshingly down-to-earth, genuinely kind, candid, and utterly awesome. We engaged in engaging conversations covering a wide range of topics, including strategies for achieving work-life balance, emerging food trends, the importance of selecting projects one truly believes in, and much more. It was an inspiring and memorable exchange.
Later that afternoon, our culinary exploration continued with our second immersive event, hosted by one of the main sponsors of the Kohler Food & Wine Experience – Stella Artois. This session promised a deeper dive into the art of brewing and tasting, adding another layer to our appreciation of gourmet beverages.
During this engaging session, we had the enjoyable opportunity to sample more of their delightful cidre – pronounced “cee-drah,” as we learned, an interesting tidbit that added to the cultural experience. The crisp, refreshing taste was a perfect complement to the lively atmosphere.
We were also fortunate to learn from an amazing duo who expertly guided us through the tasting and shared fascinating insights into the production and pairing of cidre. Their passion and knowledge made the experience both educational and highly entertaining.
And yours truly even got the exciting chance to sample one of the exquisite soups being prepared! It was a truly fun and interactive element that added a personal touch to the already engaging session.
As evening descended, we embarked on a captivating drive deep into the surrounding woods. The journey itself was an experience, winding through stunning fall foliage that glowed in the fading light, setting a magical tone for our final Kohler dinner destination.
Our destination was the enchanting River Wildlife Lodge. The name perfectly encapsulates its essence, as this rustic yet elegant lodge truly feels like a hidden gem, tucked away amidst the tranquil beauty of the forest. The cozy interior, with its warm lighting and natural wood accents, provided an inviting contrast to the cool autumn air outside.
Here, we were treated to yet another absolutely outstanding meal – the steak, in particular, comes with my highest recommendation, cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. With full hearts and satisfied palates, we raised our glasses, toasting to an incredible weekend shared, to newfound discoveries, and to the enduring magic of the Kohler experience. It was the perfect culmination to a truly memorable journey.
Reflecting on our time, the weekend at the Kohler Food & Wine Experience was precisely that – an incredible, multi-sensory experience.
