5-Ingredient Chili

5-Ingredient Chili is a soup recipe on Avoteb. The yield on the card is 6. Plan on 20 minutes from start to plate. The amounts and the method are both on this page.

Ingredients

Yield: 6 servings

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 (14.5-ounce) cans beans, rinsed and drained (I used half kidney beans, half pintos)
  • 2 (14.5-ounce) cans fire-roasted diced tomatoes with green chiles, see note below if using Ro*Tel
  • 1 (14.5-ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup (4 tablespoons) taco seasoning, homemade or store-bought
  • optional toppings: shredded cheese, sour cream, chopped green or red onions, diced avocado, or crushed tortilla chips

Method

  1. Brown the beef. In a large pot or Dutch oven, cook the ground beef over medium-a hot burner until browned, crumbling it with a wooden spoon as it cooks. Tip off excess grease if needed.

  2. Let it bubble gently. Stir in the beans, diced tomatoes with green chiles, tomato sauce, and taco seasoning until combined. Raise the chili to a let it bubble gently, then reduce heat to medium-low. Lid and let it bubble gently for 5 to 15 minutes (however long you have), stirring occasionally, to allow the flavors to meld.

  3. Salt Check the seasoning and adjust seasoning if needed.

  4. Plate Plate warm loaded up with your favorite toppings. Enjoy!
